Paper Title:

Inorganic Pollutants in Water

Dericks Praise Shukla.

The occurrence of inorganic pollutants in water is due to both anthropogenic and geogenic factors. Considering the hem inorganic pollutants cause, knowledge of water-treatment technologies is of utmost importance. Extensive studies have been and done and are still in progress with the aim of finding an environmental friendly and economically feasible technology for water treatment. A number of methods such as coagulation, adsorption, membrane processes, dialysis, electrocoagulation, and floatation have been used for water treatment. All the processes have some or the other limitations restricting their use. Currently, researchers have gained interest in adsorption processes for the removal of pollutants. New adsorbent materials such as nanomaterials, composite materials and bioadsorbents are getting lot of attention as they are cheaper, easy to use, and have lesser treatment time. Also, semiconductor photocatalytic processes have shown great potential for water treatment as it aligns to the zero-waste scheme, but the commercialization is impeded due to barriers in postrecovery of the catalytic materials. Different techniques have been developed to treat different types of water pollutants. The present manuscript reviews the various treatment technologies for water treatment of inorganic pollutants highlighting their advantages and limitations.
