PhD Position under a collaborative research work between IIT Mandi and IIT Guwahati for July’24 Session
Looking for a top-notch PhD student to be working jointly with me, Dr. Mousumi Mukherjee at the Theoretical and Computational Geomechanics Lab, School of Civil and Environmental Engineering, IIT Mandi and Dr. Arindam Dey from the Center for Disaster Management and Research (CDMR), IIT Guwahati. We are jointly looking for a very capable and motivated student for multiscale modelling of debris flow phenomena and its interaction with the rigid barrier system. The proposed research problem encompasses understanding the influence of discrete grain morphology on the flow behaviour of the heterogeneous granular mix from a micro-mechanical modelling perspective with due consideration to the complex interplay arising from the associated fluid flow characteristics. Along with the numerical modelling, lab-scale flume tests are also envisioned for validating the numerical model.
